MEET RENARD
RENARD JOHNSON: Homegrown local businessman who deeply cares about our city.
Renard Johnson grew up on the northeast side of El Paso and graduated from Andress High School and the University of Texas at El Paso in 1994. Although Renard came from humble beginnings, El Paso provided him with the education and opportunity to achieve his dreams.

Renard founded METI Inc., one of El Paso’s fastest-growing and most successful companies, providing systems engineering and information technology support to government and commercial customers across the country.
​Renard has also received numerous awards for operating his flourishing minority-owned business, including the Minority Business Enterprise of the Year from the United States Department of Commerce.
In 2020, Renard founded El Perro Grande tequila company, also headquartered in El Paso, Texas, which has received accolades from Forbes Magazine and numerous industry professionals.
In addition, Renard is actively involved in the community, having served as the former president of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the former president and chairman of The Texas Lyceum, a board member of the El Paso Boys & Girls Club, Board member of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank, and the former chairman of the Board for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, El Paso Branch.
Renard has helped recruit incredible leaders to our city, including serving on the committees to hire current UTEP President Heather Wilson and El Paso Community College President Dr. William Serrata. Additionally, he has worked in his capacity as a board member of the Hospitals at Providence to recruit numerous doctors and other medical professionals to El Paso.
Renard is a loving father of his two daughters and a life-long resident of El Paso, Texas.
